Freedom Festival Balloon Fest

A favorite family tradition of ours is going to the Freedom Festival Balloon Fest each year! It takes place in Provo by the hospital for a few days surrounding the 4th of July. Since we're up late doing fireworks on the 4th, we typically hit up the Balloon Fest on the 3rd. With our chocolate milk, donuts, and grapes we headed off bright and early to check out the balloons and watch the competition!

A big highlight this year were the Star Wars Balloons of Yoda and Darth Vader

There were even some Storm Troopers and Darth Vader himself at the festival!

We haven't always stayed for the actual competition, but it was fun to watch the balloons come back across the field and try to toss their markers onto the target below. I never realized before how much skill is involved in flying hot air balloons! Of course for Gavin the funnest part was walking around among all the balloons as they prepared to take off, and playing with Liam while he got his fill of powdered donuts and chocolate milk!

On our way home we watched a balloon land right in North Park
