Halloween Fun!
A few days before Halloween we bought some pumpkins and carved them for FHE, and Jared roasted the pumpkins seeds, and we still have a TON left. He tried using different random spices to season them, and the ones made with Chili powder were definitely my favourite!
For Halloween night we were invited to a party that some people in our apartment complex were having, so even though we were planning on going to Vegas that weekend, we still decided to go so we could get to know some people in our ward/complex. No one was dressed up (except for two babies that were there), but we had homemade Rootbeer with dry ice and caramel apples and some other treats. After the party we went over to our friend Greg's place and played some of his scary Xbox game and watched The Happening.
Then finally around 1:00am we left with our friend Julia to drive down to Vegas for the weekend. We brought our portable DVD player, along with the Ghostbuster movies and CSI to keep us awake on the ride down! Jared sister, Janea, was having her 16th Birthday Party on the Saturday after Halloween, and our friend Tristan (Julia's cousin) was also getting back from his mission on Saturday. So we spent all Friday night driving down to Vegas so we could be there for both events!
B.Y.U. COUGARS!!!!!
I wish I had posted this a while ago, when I could still brag about how well we were doing, and that we were ranked #8...but unfortunately we're not doing so hot anymore (I think we're ranked like 17th or something now). Up until a few weeks ago when we played TCU, BYU held the record for the longest major college winning streak in US history - 16 consecutive wins. We've also had two consecutive shutouts, 59-0 against UCLA, and 44-0 against Wyoming.
Although we're obviously BIG BYU fans, one of our favourite BYU Cougars to cheer for isn't playing out on the field....it's Cosmo, our Cougar mascot. During TV breaks, timeouts, etc. short Cosmo videos are played on the screens, and this one game after a video was played, Cosmo came running out onto the field with a BYU flag, got chased off the field by a ref, then jumped into the crowd and started to crowd surf for a while! It's fun!
After every win the Victory Bell, outside the Marriott Center about a block from the stadium, is rung by one of the players. Here are some pictures of us after a win at the Victory Bell with Cosmo and running back Fui Vakapuna.
I think one of my favourite things about game days is the amount of BLUE that you see all over Provo, and the mobs of people blocking traffic before and after the games! We never attempt to drive all the way to the stadium for games, but we've developed a routine where most games we'll pick up a 5 dollar pizza from Little Ceasars, pick up Alex from her place, park in the underground parking on campus by the math building, and walk about 5 minutes to the stadium eating our pizza on the way. We've also become pros at sneaking in our own snacks and water bottles!
