Gavin loved preschool, and Patchwork Preschool was awesome! Miss Rebecca is fantastic, and I would recommend this preschool to anyone! The month of February was all about community helpers. Gavin's class was visited by a paramedic, fireman, yoga instructor, police officer, and... a medical technologist!
Gavin was so excited and proud to tell his class that I was coming to talk all about germs!

The year ended with a special beach party dancing to The Beach Boys, eating yummy ice cream, and playing with the parachute and beach ball outside!
Towards the end of the year we had parent teacher conferences with Miss Rebecca. At first I thought it was a little intense to be having conferences for preschoolers, but it was great. Gavin's usual response when asked what he did in preschool that day was, "Oh, nothing." or "Fun stuff, but I can't really remember right now." I learned what skills Gavin was learning, and things I could practice with him at home. Gavin and I have often done math together, just adding different groups of things together, but I had no idea that in preschool he was learning to actually read math equations and write down the correct answer!
Although Gavin was sad to see preschool end, he is now so excited for kindergarten to start in the fall. Over the summer we are trying to keep up with what he has learned in preschool and have "Summer School" at home. Just a quick page at breakfast of reading, writing his name and another letter or sound, and a few math problems. I have a jewelry box of buttons, and each day Gavin does his "Summer School" he gets to put a button in a jar. When the jar is full we'll go to the zoo or do some other big activity! I'm hoping this will keep it fun and keep Gavin motivated to do it a few times during the week.
