Sometimes I feel like this is my life's current theme song! With an almost 10 month old that still wakes up numerous times during the night and a five year old with more energy than the Energizer Bunny, it's exhausting to just keep up. But I do feel blessed to have these two cuties!
Ever since Gavin turned five he has really taken on the role of being a BIG kid. Of course there are still tantrums and battles, but I love how proud Gavin feels when he knows he's helping and being the big kid - especially when he surprises us without us asking or reminding him to do something! Most mornings he'll ask me if the dishwasher is clean, and then put away the utensils without being asked! He is awesome at clearing the table after meals, and is a great help with Liam! Those little things make the thousand daily messes easier to handle. Like when he tries to pour his own cereal and milk and it ends up everywhere, or when he "helps" add the cheese to the noodles and I end up with an orange stove top, etc. etc! Gavin is my little monkey, swinging from the top of his loft bed, climbing trees, and scaling the outside of playgrounds. I've set some limits - but I'm also learning to pick my battles!
Now that preschool is over I'm realizing how important those two and a half hours, three times a week were to my sanity! I'm trying to fill our time with fun activities over the summer, while balancing my need for sleep. Some days are filled with more TV than I'd like, but in the long run it's worth it for the boys to not have a Mommy that's "slowly going crazy"! And at some point Liam will figure out that nighttime means sleep time, but for now I'll focus on cherishing all his cuteness!
Liam is turning into a little monkey too. Just this morning I found him crawling into his swing and dangerously swinging back and forth on his knees about to tip out the top!
Liam is crawling everywhere, and pulls up on everything. He is a super ticklish baby, and I love squeezing and tickling his chubby legs! Liam can give high fives, clap his hands, say Da-da and Ma-ma, and has his two bottom teeth. Peek-a-boo and bonking heads are some favorite games. He loves the pool and splash pad, and is figuring out that dunking his face under water is not a good idea - but he keeps trying it anyways!
Both Gavin and Liam possess very determined personalities. However, where Gavin has always been loud and determined, both Jared and I see a very quietly determined personality in Liam. When blocked from the kitchen by laundry baskets while I clean, instead of screaming and trying to get through, Liam will silently figure out a way through the barricade, and crawl to the kitchen until caught. No matter how many times I put him back in the front, he will continue fighting his way through. It's annoying but cute! The other day Liam saw me putting something away in a kitchen drawer and realized that those cupboards open, with things inside to play with! For the next 20 minutes he crawled around the kitchen trying to open each door and figure out how to get past the child locks. And of course sneaking away to the toilet when the bathroom door is left open is his favorite!

I love the update. Keeping up with kids is exhausting. Still, I've always been impressed with how much you guys do. You always seem to be planning something fun, way to go! Call me if you are ever up this way, we would be happy to meet you at the aquarium or Thanksgiving Point some time.
We are super excited to see all of you.Perhaps we can even facilitate some sleep time for you. We'll work on expanding Liam's vocabulary with Nana and Grandpa Ducky.
