California Road Trip

This year for the Annual Edgel California Beach Trip we were back at Mission Beach!  Since Allison's family is now living in California, we wanted to take a few extra days and visit them before heading down to San Diego. So Jared took a few extra days off work, and we headed down to Vegas on May 1st.

Picking strawberries at the garden and snuggles with Grandma

Saturday afternoon we headed out on our way to Santa Clarita, and made it to Trousdale's home in time for birthday celebrations for Claire's first birthday! Liam and Gavin both did awesome on the trip despite the long drive and Liam cutting his first tooth. My nieces Elaina and Erin were sweet to let me and Jared take over their room while there, and Gavin got to have sleepovers with Isaac each night!

While the girls were in school one day we spent the day with Allison, Isaac, and Claire at Griffith Park checking out trains and visiting the Observatory for a view of the Hollywood sign.

Two kooks!

HOLLYWOOD - it was a little cloudy, but trust me it's there

Me, Jared, and the boys took a detour on our way back to Allison's to visit the Walk of Fame. We found R2D2, C3PO, and Darth Vader's foot prints, and Kermit the Frog's star!

On Wednesday we said goodbye to Trousdales and headed down to San Diego! We took the scenic route along Pacific Coast Highway, stopping along the way for a break at our favorite spot, Laguna Beach. Gavin is so full on personality! He ran out of the car and down to the beach shouting, "Whoo hoo!  This is the BEST DAY EVER!" Liam was a little less sure about the water than his big brother.

And finally we made it to Mission Beach! Despite not having the best weather, it didn't stop the kids from playing in the water and having a blast with each other. While there we celebrated Mother's Day, and got to skype for a bit with the two missionaries - Jayden and Janea, Jared and I celebrated our 6th anniversary, and we enjoyed just hanging out and relaxing with family.
