Visit from Grandparents and Cousins

At the end of June my parents arrived in Utah with my two nieces, Elaina and Erin.  They were finishing up their RV road trip from Maryland, visiting church history sites all along the way.  Gavin last saw Elaina and Erin a year and a half ago, when we were all in Mexico for Christmas, so he was beyond excited!  Gavin and I met up with them in Salt Lake at "This is the Place Monument", then drove together to Heber where we camped for two days and celebrated Canada Day.

Grandpa Ducky got to camp with the kids while my
mom, Jared and I opted to 'camp' in the comfort of the RV.

These three had a blast playing at the park, riding
scooters, swimming, and just spending lots of time together!

Then staying up late to set of fire works!

On July 3rd we woke up bright and early to go to the Balloon Fest a few blocks away.  Unfortunately the weather wasn't cooperating, so only a few of the hot air balloons were able to take off.  But it was fun eating fruit and doughnuts for breakfast and walking around seeing all the different balloons being inflated.  Since it was so early, Jared came with us and stayed until he had to head off to work.

After Balloon Fest and a stop at the park, we decided to head over to the Walk of Freedom at SCERA Park in Orem.  I've heard about this before, but we've never gone.  It was a bit boring for Gavin, so we didn't do many of the booths, but each kid got a to choose a name tag with info of an actual person that immigrated to the US.  They got a passport, and had to pass off different things at each booth, until finally becoming a US citizen.  Gavin got to be Albert Einstein.

The 4th of July was another busy day with the Provo Parade, picnic lunch back at the RV, ice cream cones with Grandpa Ducky, playing at the park, swimming at the Provo Rec Center, and a nap for everyone before heading out to watch the fireworks at Stadium of Fire!

Gavin had a blast with his two cousins, and is already asking when they're coming back for another visit.  He loved having them over to his place for a sleep over, going on a tour of BYU campus, reading books,  and just hanging out with Elaina and Erin!

It was a great time together...even if I was second fiddle to his cousins. I actually love how much fun they had together.
