USCIS Interview....and Work!

I really wish I was better at keeping up with our blog! I keep thinking once this happens I'll get better, or as soon as I'm finished with that I'll post more...but it never seems to happen.

Anyways, tomorrow is the big scary USCIS interview for Jared and I. I think we're probably more nervous and stressed out about than we should be, but we've heard some bad stories, so we're making sure to be extra prepared. Since I'm Canadian, when I finished with school I was technically supposed to return to Canada. However...since I got married, and we've decided to stay in the US for now, I needed to apply for permanent residency to get a green card. The paperwork took forever, and cost more than we would have liked, but I finally received work authorization, and tomorrow Jared and I have to meet with an immigration officer to determine if they'll let me stay in the US. We've had to gather LOTS of documents proving that our marriage is legit, like bank statements, rental contract, etc. that are in both our names, along with anything else that shows we really love each other and I'm not just trying to get a green card... So hopefully that all goes well!

This week I also started working!!!! My work authorization finally came at the beginning of March, so I applied for jobs and I am working up at the Intermountain Medical Center in Murray. I'm working in the chemistry and hematology areas of the lab running patient samples. It's a much bigger and busier lab than up at LDS Hospital where I did most of my internship, so I'll have to be trained for a while before I actually start running samples. But it's definitely exciting to finally be putting my four and a half years of schooling into practical use at a real job!!

I am so glad to hear you are able to utilize your hard earned education. It feels great to actually put the skills to use. It does take some time to get used to the routines of any new job/career. Congratulations!!!
