Goodbye Quinzee

It was fun while it lasted...but now that our quinzee is gone we've pulled the bikes out and are ready for some warm spring weather! February 8th Gavin and I finally got around to sleeping in our snow cave. Although we only made it till 2am, it was still fun (FYI...it wasn't the cold that forced us to come in - we were actually pretty warm in our room made of snow) and both Gavin and Daddy are already planning the one for next winter.

It took Liam a little convincing at first...

But soon he was going in and out right behind Gavin

Perfect height for a one-year-old!
Even Gavin could almost stand up all the way inside

As the snow continued to pile up outside, our entrance kept getting smaller and smaller!
Although there was room for all of us inside, squeezing in got a little more difficult for some.

It obviously didn't affect these two though

Heading out for our adventure...

...if I can manage to squeeze in one last time

Good thing we slept in it when we did!
The sun melted this nice window in the side just a few days later

And soon it was looking like this...

Although our quinzee is now nothing but a small pile of snow,
we also built some great memories...and possibly a new tradition!

Great memories that last a lifetime, as all the Ames can verify! I don't have any photos of the quinzee that was built when Jennifer was a little girl, but we have it on video. Remind us to bring & watch it next visit.
