April Road Trip - Part I

Last year in April we went on a camping trip to Zion National Park.  It was during Free National Park week, and we had such a great time we decided to go down again this year.  Although we didn't camp this year, we did have fun spending a day hiking around the beautiful park.  On our way down we stopped and spent the night at Tyler and Breanne's place in Cedar City, so that we'd make sure to have a full day at Zion.  I love how beautiful it is here, and we might have to start making this a yearly tradition!

That evening we met up in Hurricane, Utah with Janea and Mark for the Hurricane Half Marathon & 5K the following morning.  I did the 5K again this year (although I didn't end up preparing at ALL), and Mark ran the half marathon.  Last year I came in second place for my age division, at 27:37.6 so this year I was just hoping to finish in under 35 minutes.  I finished in 6th for age division, at 31:29.0.  Mark did awesome on the half marathon, finishing in just over two hours.  I don't know, maybe next year I'll consider doing the half marathon!
Gavin was excited for the bagels and muffins...

And to cheer on Grandpa as he passed the finish line!

After the race we continued our trip down to Vegas.  So this might be TMI for some, but for this Mom it needed to be documented.  Gavin's potty trained, but to avoid unnecessary messes in the bathroom he's learned to go potty sitting down.  It was quite comical when we had to make a roadside pit stop for Gavin when he needed a potty break on the drive down to Vegas.  Here's Jared trying to explain to Gavin how to go pee standing up on the side of the road.

Jared and I spent the evening out on a date at the Bellagio, and Gavin had fun in the pool with Grandpa!
