Even though I have to work at nights, my work schedule is great, especially for the summer. For those of you who don't know, I work seven nights in a row, and they are ten hour shifts. So I work 70 hours in one week, but then I get the whole next seven days off. Since Jared is mainly working on his thesis right now his schedule is really flexible. This means we're able to take lots of trips!!!
A few weeks ago Jared got back from his trip to China, which he did as part of his Spring Term "China Mega Structures" class. I just finished labeling all the pictures, and will post some of those shortly! While Jared was in China I went down to Vegas for a few days during my week off and spent time with his family, which was lots of fun as always, and tomorrow we are driving down for another visit.
Wednesday night I will start my week on, but the following week we are headed up to Canada to visit my family!!! We'll all be there, and I am so excited! Heather, David, my Nana & Papa, Aunt & Uncle, and cousins are already up there, my parents are flying in from Saudi Arabia, and Allison, Mike, Elaina, & Erin will be flying up from Texas! It's been over a year (at my wedding) since I last saw most of my family, so it will be great to be all together! An added bonus is that we will be up their during the Calgary Stampede, "The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth"! It takes place for 10 days during the summer, and the entire city goes western! There's Stampede breakfasts and dinners, the chuckwagon races, rodeo, rides and shows at the Stampede Grounds, the Grand Stand Show, etc...! It will also be fun to visit friends while we're home as well.
Later on in July Jared will be off to New Mexico. The company that is sponsoring his thesis research, Sandia National Laboratories, has asked him to come down to Albuquerque for two weeks to continue research and to get in depth one-on-one training. It's a great opportunity for him, and since all his expenses will be covered, we are looking at flight costs to see if I could come down for part of the time he is there. I've never been to New Mexico, and it would be neat to travel somewhere new!
Lastly (I think), is a trip with Jared's family in August. We will be spending a week in California. Jacob gets back from his mission in July, and Jordan leaves for his mission in September, so we're taking a trip while they're both home. Jared and I got day passes to Disneyland as wedding gifts, which we are excited to use while we are there!!!
