Grand Canyon Trip

One of our favourite things to do together has always been road trips! I grew up going on road trips with my family, and Jared always talks about the many road trips he did with friends during high school. Jared and I have driven from Provo to Vegas countless times to visit his family, drove once from Provo to northern California for a friends wedding, Colorado and we have now taken two road trips up to Canada. Our time in Vegas is beginning to run out before I head up to Utah to start my internship, so Jared and I decided to make a trip to the Grand Canyon before I left. Two weekends ago we drove to the South Rim, stopping to see Hoover Dam on our way, and made it into the park and to a gorgeous lookout point just in time to see the sun setting into the canyon. Here are a few of the pictures we took that evening.

After watching the sun set we headed to our campsite, set up our tent, and Jared unloaded our sleeping stuff while I made a campfire (only one match and nothing but wood)! We played a game of chess…which I lost, although I am getting better…and then we went to bed. The next day Eliza and her friend Mark drove out from Arizona to camp with us. We hiked down into the canyon a ways, all got lots of sun, and had a great time. After the hike we had ice cream cones, then headed back to the campsite to roast some hot dogs. This time Jared started the fire (also with just one match and no paper)! We finished dinner just before the sun set, and went back to the lookout to watch the sunset again. The Grand Canyon is so beautiful! Here are some more pictures that we took!

We went back to our campsite, sunburnt and stiff, roasted marshmallows and made smores and hot chocolate! Jared and I had brought our game of Clue that we got as a wedding gift, so we played that before going to bed. The next morning Eliza and Mark had to leave fairly early, but Jared and I stayed for a while longer. We drove out along this scenic road with stop points looking out over the Canyon. We took a ton more pictures, had a picnic lunch, and then started heading back for Vegas. These are some of the pictures that we took our last day at the Grand Canyon.

That looks so fun! It looks so beautiful in the pictures, although I'm sure it doesn't come close to capturing the magnificence of it at all!

I didn't realize till now that you had posted these great photos and write-up about your trip. We'll do it with you next year! (See if Ducky can still do no paper-one match fires too).
